How to Ruin your HDD step by step
1. partition your hdd
2.start writing an OS onto new partition using image writer
3. stop writing OS half way/it crashes.
4. try to delete anything on the hdd, (hint: you can't!)
5. your HDD is ruined (beyond repair?)
How to FIX the HDD
1. see if you can format it
a) go to start, type part
b) select create and format partitions
c) find your hdd
d) format the partiton
e) if that didnt work, delete the partiton
f) recreate the partion,
^ none of that worked did it
ok now it is time to see if you can remove the protection that windows gives write protected things.
^ try this method here of editing the reg, if that doesnt work there is another method there.
HOWEVER these did not work for me.
2. Now it is time, install ubutnu (google for latest version, you want the windows program version that allowes you to duel boot)
3. delete everything on HDD
4. format the HDD in ubuntu using the disk manager (a full guide would take forever, once again google for whatever you get stuck on)
5. Large HDDS 16/32gb+ should be in NTFS format, FAT32 would actually make you lose a lot of space
6. format the whole shebang (make sure you have the right HDD, if you format the one you're using, that's it, game over, goodnight computer)
7. it might fail, but that's fine, load up windows and then format your hdd again, this time using HPs usb disk storage format tool, (google for latest version, YES AGAIN)
8. format it with that using the same setup as before and low and behold it should work correctly.
9. voila, you'velost everything but you have a working HDD.
